Another experiment with textures, Winter Wood is a collection of warmth.
And an owl. Of course :)

This polyvore creation indulged my darker side. My Gothic tendencies. My love of all things Poe.
There are a few tongue-in-cheek references to Mr. Poe, obviously, but it was largely an experiment with textures and patterns.
Looking at this, however, is dangerous. It makes me want to run out and adopt a black cat. And name her Cattarina.
Sigh… I miss having a feline sidekick in my life.
I called this one “natural.”
Partially for the color choice and partially for the flowing softness that all of the elements presented.
I had a lot of fun finding and mixing these images. The colors and textures soothe me. I like how the lacy dress is really more of a background element, but how everything matches its understated elegance.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
LOVE this!
And would love it more if it worked…. hmmm… gonna go bake a pie now….

Okay, the owl is actually a doorstop and not a pillow, but I liked how comfy he looked on the couch.
While designing this room on Polyvore, I was thinking of my favorite decorating colors: white and light blue. They calm me. They make me happy.
And owls and books and fluffy pillows and soft blankets make me happy.
Not that I’d actually be able to read a vintage French paperback, but I could hold it in my arms, feel the delicate pages with my fingers, and fall asleep with it on my chest as its gentle scent cascaded through my dreams.
That would make me happy, too.

I am obsessed with this incredible Scratch Map – what an awesome idea!
It’s like a lottery ticket and travel log all in one.
And what could possibly be a better prize then the chance to explore our world? And what better memorabilia then our memories?
The map is covered with foil that you simply scratch off with a coin. It’s a great way to keep track of your travels.
And if you haven’t started traveling yet? Hang it on your wall to inspire you to get moving!
Here’s an example (made by Grommet) of how it works:
Granted, many of the countries I’ve visited are relatively small, so I think hanging this on my wall would prompt me to hit up some of the larger entities out there.
Still a sweet poster, though.

The one I voted for came in at #1, and I’m not really surprised: they’re awesome! Because, I mean – really – who wouldn’t want a spooky cupcake topped with cotton candy clouds?
The 1st place winner was Under The Light of The Moon Halloween Cupcakes:

In 2nd place was Caramel Apple Cupcakes:

Ane Brun has an addicting voice.
The poetic words and hypnotic rhythms smoothly float through your brain, with a mysterious roughness that makes it stick to every corner of your mind.
This is what is flowing within my head today: Ane Brun’s On/Off:

These precious plush mobiles would be an adorable addition to any nursery!
I can just see them: gently swaying above the intense and curious eyes of a newborn, bringing out warm, toothless smiles and soft coos.

I seem to have a wee bit of baby fever lately! :)
Of course, these charming creations aren’t shipped outside of France (and a couple other EU countries) so you may have to make you’re own if you’re particularly fond of them.
Check them out at A Little Market: 3 Bird Mobile, 3 Little Pigs Mobile, Pink Bird with Sun & Cloud Mobile
The writing was genius. The scenery was amazing. The language was mesmerizing. The action was sick. The humor was perfect.
The captain was hot.
I miss Firefly.
Years ago, when I was introduced to the show and the movie at the same time, watching all of it in a single weekend, I just couldn’t believe that that was all there was. What do you mean cancelled? Why would anyone end something so brilliant??
Anyway, to ease my pain, I’m sharing a few images with you that made me smile. Enjoy. :)

That is so scifi…

Long Live Firefly… *sniff*
