Birthday Candle Pancake Breakfast … with Sprinkles!

Birthday Candle Pancake Breakfast with Sprinkles!

You wanna know what we love in our house?

Sprinkles.

Sprinkles are the bomb.

Tiny, sugary confetti bursts of celebratory color.  Perfect for just about anything.  Including pancakes.

For my girls’ birthday breakfasts this year, they got homemade pancakes.  With SPRINKLES!

Because… why not?

It looked awfully impressive, but was such a simple way to add joy to a special day.  Such a fun way to start out a birthday!

Anyway, I used some overnight pancake batter (I’ll get around to posting that recipe… someday) to make the pancakes, threw a couple on their “Frozen” plates, drizzled some syrup, and scooped on the cake sprinkles!

You could also add sprinkles to the batter, but I stuck to using the pop of color just as a topping.

I also stuck in a few candles and lit them just before placing them in front of the girls (whose birthdays are one day apart, so candles for both of them at the same time totally works).

Matching Personalized Monogram Gifts

Blue and White Chevron Matching Personalized Monogram Gifts

I love the idea of being able to set up an entire meal with personalized dishes and matching accessories.

Which is what these chevron patterned monogram gifts are for!  From the placemat and coasters for your breakfast at home to the lunchbox and water bottle for your lunch at the office, these are a great way to start any meal.

They’re great for kids, too!  I mean, sure, you might first think of yourself, or even your teenage daughter/granddaughter when you first look at them, but young kids also love to see their names on things – even when they’re just starting to learn their letters.  And not all of us want to have blinding primary colors or gigantic faces of Elmo plastered all over our kitchens.

We have to look at this stuff every day, too, amiright?

{Okay, okay… my girls have Jake and the Neverland Pirates placemats.  I admit it.  BUT, I love Jake, too.  :) }

Because we should be able to surround ourselves with things we love.  And things that no one will mistake as not being ours.  Especially if you’re living in a dorm or working in an office where your stuff keeps walking off…

Anyway, aside from the easy personalization, the other thing I love about this line of monogrammed gifts is that they come in different colors.  Below you’ll find the links for the blue, green, and pink versions!

Please share with me which are your favorites!  And don’t forget to also share them on Facebook and Pinterest!

“Make Your Own” Custom Chocolate Bars

Create Your Own Chocolate Bar from 3 Types of Chocolate and Over 100 Toppings!

Today, I discovered custom chocolate bars.

That’s right:  make your own Belgian chocolate bars by mixing and matching 3 types of chocolate and over 100 toppings.

I believe that “Sweet!” would be an appropriate response to this.  {Pun fully intended.}

Create Your Own Chocolate Bar from 3 Types of Chocolate and Over 100 Toppings!

Anywho, the combinations are endless, which I love.

You can add up to 5 toppings to make “recipes,” like Peanut Butter Jelly Time Chocolate Bar which includes a milk chocolate base and toppings of dried strawberries, butter toasted peanuts, peanut butter drops, and gushers.

Heck, you can even go the extra mile and add a “Congratulations” plaque and a candle.

Some of the ingredients which most intrigue my taste buds include:

Diced Ginger
Himalayan Sea salt
Pumpkin Spice
Dried Raspberries
Nerds
Sour Patch Kids
Cookie Dough
Pop Rocks
23 Karat Gold Flakes
Crystallized Violet Petals
Bacon
Monkey Munch

The list goes on…

And I mean, seriously, does anyone really NOT know someone who wouldn’t want a pumpkin spice chocolate bar?

I’m thinking that I’d love to try the dark chocolate base topped with violet petals and gold flakes.

What about you?  What would you try?  What would you craft as a gift for a loved one?

Let me know!  (And don’t forget to check out all the ingredients for the Create Your Own Chocolate Bar on Zazzle!)

Milk Sprinkles

Milk Sprinkles

Looking for a fun way to add some color to your kid’s celebrations?

I found a picture of this somewhere on Pinterest forever ago, but apparently I didn’t pin it at the time.  Anyway, the image stuck with me, so I decided to try it for my girls’ birthday.

I used their little cups, dipping the rims in some honey I’d poured into a dish (see photo below).  Make sure the entire rim is covered in honey – but only just covered, not dripping gooey clumps of the stuff.  Too much and it will drip down the sides of the cup.

Right after dipping the cups in honey, dip them in nonpareil sprinkles.  I used a Spring mix here (orange, yellow, and white), but use whatever colors you prefer.

Milk Sprinkles

My girls love sprinkles, so this was fun for them.

I wouldn’t do this everyday, but I’m thinking about using color-coordinated sprinkles for different holidays, like red and green for Christmas and orange and purple for Halloween.  And maybe trying chocolate syrup instead of honey next time.

I served this with their pancake breakfast, where I’d made pancakes in the shape of their initials, and later we had some layer cake with chocolate chip filling.

A whole day of fun food is a great way to celebrate birthdays, in my humble opinion.  :)
